Ben Calf Robe
School Opening Celebration 2005

Jesus

What Would Creator Do?
Walking In Creator's Footsteps...

Processional Hymn: Song of the Body Of Christ

Welcome: Mr. Richardson

We gather together today, for our Opening Celebration of this new school year. We welcome each other back from the summer, and become united in the 'NEW' Ben Calf Robe School family.

Some of us are completely new to this family, and we welcome you with a promise of friendship. The rest of us have already been members of this special school family, and we give thanks that we are returning to each other, to once again set out together, on this adventure of learning, working and sharing our lives.

Last year our theme was:

A NEW BEGINNING...
OUR CIRCLE IS STRONG!

We once again join together for a new beginning... and we will all strive to make our CIRCLE the strongest it has ever been.

This year we will not act ...until we first STOP and THINK...

"What Would Creator Do?"

If we all make the promise to do this... then WE WILL be ...

WALKING in CREATOR's FOOTSTEPS

When we make the promise to 'WALK in CREATOR's FOOTSTEPS'... we are all making the promise to RESPECT ...and we will help each other make the respectful choices we NEED to make this year.

We will be kind and show CARING for others, and we will all be successful in our work and our learning.

Ben Calf Robe School means...Belonging, Caring, Respect. Ben Calf Robe's dream was for all children of his people, to be educated in faithful teaching. You are all here...making his dream come true.

Today, each student presented a symbol of themself, when they entered the church. Today, these symbols will be blessed - as we are blessed to be in the Creator's Family. These 'blessed bodies' will remind us that each of us are blessed to BELONG in the STRONG CIRCLE of the Ben Calf Robe School Family.

Let us now begin our school celebration and our year together...
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...AMEN

First Reading: Mrs. Makale

A Reading from Paul's Second Letter to Timothy verses 9-11,13,14

God saved us and chose us to be his holy people. We did nothing to deserve this, but God planned it because he is so kind.
Even before time began God planned for Christ Jesus to show kindness to us.

Now Jesus Christ has come to show us the kindness of God. Christ our Savior defeated death and brought us the good news.
It shines like a light and offers life that never ends.
My work is to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.
Now follow the example of the correct teaching I gave you, and let the faith and love of Christ be your model.
You have been trusted with a wonderful treasure. Guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit, who lives within you.
This is the Word of the Lord.
..................Thanks be to God

Gospel: Father Jim

This is the Gospel according to Luke 6:20 ...
Glory to You Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus' disciples gathered around him, and he taught them:

God blesses those people who depend only on him.
They belong to the kingdom of heaven!

God blesses those people who grieve.
They will find comfort!

God blesses those people who are humble.
The earth will belong to them!

God blesses those people who want to obey him, more than eat or drink.
They will be given what they want!

God blesses those people who are merciful.
They will be treated with mercy!

God blesses those people whose hearts are pure.
They will see him!

God blesses those people who make peace.
They will be called his children!

God blesses those people who are treated badly for doing right.
They belong to the Kingdom of heaven.

God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell you all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.

Be happy and excited!
You will have a great reward in heaven.
People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.

This is the Gospel of the Lord... Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

Dear God,
Thank you for bringing all of us here together this year, to share in the important journey of learning, living and working together.

May each day and each moment we share, bring us greater understanding and appreciation for all our many blessings that we are given.

May we aim for greater closeness to the Creator, and may we unite as a strong and powerful family...ready for all the challenges and successes we are about to achieve together at Ben Calf Robe School in 2005-2006.

This we ask in God's name...
