Ben Calf Robe School’s
HOLY THURSDAY CELEBRATION

Welcome: Mr. Richardson We gather today, to remember this very special and holy day in our HOLY WEEK. This is the day that Jesus called his friends together, for one last meal, to prepare them for what was going to happen to HIM. It was before the ‘Last Supper’ that Jesus washed the feet of His friends whom he loved, and told them to go out and do the same. It was the night of the Holy meal, when he blessed and shared His body and blood. It was the night when Jesus went into the garden, to pray for strength for what would lie ahead. And it was also the night of his arrest. Today, we remember and celebrate these last important moments in Jesus’ life. It is a time for us to give respect and honour, for the great love that JESUS had for all of us…to be willing to go through this, for all of our sins. Please join us in our very special observance of Holy Thursday 2004… by rising and singing our opening hymn. Processional Hymn: Come Just As You Are Penitential Rite: I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord have mercy. First Reading: Mrs. Sayegh 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26 Beloved: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper saying, “This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant, which will be shed for you and for all men so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. This is the word of the Lord………………………..Thanks be to God Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia Gospel: Father Jim The Lord be with you………………..And also with you: A reading from the holy gospel according to John 13: 1-15 Now before the festival of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The devil had already put it into the heart of Judas. Son of Simon Iscariot, to betray him. And during supper Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus answered, “You do not know what I am doing, but later you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and and my head.” Jesus said to him, “One who has bathed does not need to wash except for the feet but is entirely clean and you are clean though not all of you.” For he knew who was to betray him. For this reason, he said, “Not all of you are clean.” After he had washed their feet, put on his robe, and returned to the table, Jesus said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You all me teacher and Lord and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to was one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” This is the Gospel of the Lord…………Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ Homily: Father Jim Offertory Song: Song of the Body of Christ Procession of Faith: WE BELIEVE (song) Prayers of the Faithful: Response – CREATOR hear our prayers.
