THANKSGIVING PRAYERS
of
3M Family
The following prayers were written in the week of October 2 – 6, 2006, in preparation for the feast of Thanksgiving. These were the first creative writing assignments of the year.
In our school, each class takes turns reading prayers on the intercom each day. Sometimes the prayers are chosen from books, and sometimes the prayers are written by the students themselves.
Some of these prayers were chosen to be read over the intercom in our Grade 3’s week for prayer in October.

Alyssa’s Prayer
Dear Mary, God, and Jesus,
I love you Mary, God and Jesus. Yes I do, I do, I do.
I give thanks for my school.
I give thanks for my cats.
I give thanks for my dogs.
I give thanks for my bunny.
Can you help me with my Spelling, Math, Time, and Puzzle Book at school?
I will help you first Mary, and I know you will help me too.
I will always love you and pray to you Mary, God and Jesus.
Alleluia Mary, God and Jesus.
Austin’s Prayer
I love you Mary, Jesus and God.
Thank you for giving me life, my heart and my soul.
Thank you for my mom and dad and my 2 sisters.
Thank you for my friends, my teachers, and everything.
Thank you for food, clothes and shoes.
Thank you Lord, Mary and God. You are so nice to me and other people.
God, I just ask for a nice school year with my nice teacher.
I will pray for you God, every night. I will pray for Mary and Jesus, too.
Thank you God. I love You God and Jesus and Mary too.

Chevaz’s Prayer
Thank you Lord for the food and water, for life and Jesus.
Thank you for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and all our special feasts.
Thank you for our country Canada and for Mother Earth.
Thank you for Grandfather Sun and all the Grandfather and Grandmother spirits.
Thank you for all of Creation.
I will help others do their work.
Can you please bless everybody?
Please help the homeless.

Oh Mighty God,
In God’s eyes, we’re all loved the same.
Let there be peace in the world.
Thank you for creating us. We’re a present to all of the people.
Bless my family, so they don’t get sick.

Dear God,
Thank you for the Earth; the animals, the insects, the water, the food, the fruit, the trees, and all of Mother Earth.
Thank you for my family; my cousins, my uncle, my aunty, my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister, and my friends at school.
Thank you for my school, my teacher and all the other people. Thank you for the dancers.
Thank you for all I have; my cat, my kittens, my house, my clothes
I am going to pray to You God, every day and night.
God, You are so great to me. I love You so much.

Justin’s Prayer
My dear friends Jesus and Mary,
Your Great Spirit is so good in your body, to do great things in Creator God’s house, our church.
I ask for the Great Spirit to go everywhere and help the poor.
I will be nice to my friends.
Thank you for my friends and for my school.
Thank you for my mom, dad and baby brother.

Kayla’s Prayer
Dear Creator,
Thank you for the Earth; the food and water, insects, animals, the houses, the clothes, the toys and all that we have.
Thank you for my family; my kokum, my moshum, my cousins, my friends and all the humans on the earth.
Thank you for the school, my teacher, the classes and the books.
I love you Creator. Thanks for everything you gave me and everyone else too. I love you Creator all the time.
I ask for bad spirits to go away. Please help us God.
I love you and I will try hard to never make bad choices anymore.
Praise to You and all glory and honour in Your name.
Kennedy’s Prayer
My Prayer is for my God,
God is great and God is good.
I pray that the days go good. I pray for my brother to stop getting sick. Please make him feel better.
God, thank you for the trees and for the earth. Thank you for the water. Thank you for making the earth.
Thank you Jesus, for dying on the cross for me. Now we can live on the earth to be friends and family and take care of ourselves. I feel a lot of love for you doing that for all of us in the world.
No matter what, I will always be happy. Thank you for being there when I was born. I still remember when I was born. I thank you for life.
I will pray to you every night.

Kris’ Prayer
Oh Praise to You God,
I know you love me and I love You.
Can you please do me a favor? Can you bless me, my family and my school? Can you do me this favor?
I love you God so much.
I am thankful for my home, my family, my sister and myself.
Thank you for giving me school and friends. I will do my work everyday now.
I am thankful for Mother Earth and for You God.

Leona’s Prayer
My prayer is for God.
God made me and God made you.
God made the trees.
God made the earth.
God made the water for us to drink.
Now we thank Him for these gifts.
Jesus died on the cross for us. Now we live forever and ever – to be friends.
Your family will take care of you, your brothers and sisters.
God will love you no matter what. He will watch over everybody on earth and in heaven too. So will Mary.
I love you and so does God.
Please help the poor and all those who are suffering.
I will be nice to everyone – especially the little children like those in kindergarten.
I will pray to God every night and day.
I thank God for life.

Dear God,
I love you so much God. Please make me strong.
Help my dad to feel better and help him so he doesn’t hurt himself.
I will go home and help my mom wash the dishes and clean up the house.
I love my mom and dad.
Thank you for my parents, my pets, my teachers and all the earth.
I love you God.

Dear God,
Thank you for the food on Thanksgiving.
I ask that everyone gets to eat well.
I’ll put my hand to my chest to pray.
Thank you for my health.
I am thankful for my parents loving me.
I am thankful for shelter.
I will pray for you.

Shania’s Prayer
God and Jesus I pray to you,
Thank you God, for giving us day and night. Thank you for Mary and Jesus.
Thank you for my family; my mom and dad, my sisters and brother.
Thank you for giving us our school. Thank you for my friends, my teacher Mrs. Monteith, my principal Mr. Richardson, for Penny, for Mr. Delcioppo, and all the children and staff of the school. Thank you for everyone in the world.
Thank you for our special times in the year, like Thanksgiving, Halloween and the other holidays. Thank you for my birthday!
Thank you for all you give us; food, drinks, clothes, shoes, homes and all that we need to live.
Thank you for helping me to do stuff.

Dear Lord,

God,
You see us every night and day. I want to thank you for everything you gave us.

Let there be some food for those who do not have it, and that there will be no sicknesses.
